Group G is the tightest in the Europa League so far, as there is no favorite to advance to the next stage, with the top and bottom sides in the group separated by two points while the third and second placed sides are tied on five points. Rangers have a +1 goal difference over Spartak Moscow’s -1 but by having lost to the Russian side, they remain third, with the teams tied on points. Villarreal have managed four wins in the last 15 away Europa League matches which will not resonate so well with them in Glasgow.
