Strasbourg vs Metz Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

Strasbourg were a mid-table club in Ligue 1 last season. They finished in 11th place, 17 points behind the top four but 14 above the relegation zone. It was a successful season though as they won the French League Cup to qualify for the Europa League. They have already beaten Maccabi Haifa and take on Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the third qualifying round. The away leg of that tie takes place on Thursday so it's a busy time for the French side. Pre-season has gone well though with four wins in a row before losing the away leg to Maccabi Haifa. Home form last season saw Strasbourg win six league games with eight draws and five defeats. Their last four home league games failed to produce any wins.

Metz also won a trophy last season as they won Ligue 2. That's the second time they have won that title in the past six seasons. They finished the season seven points clear of Brest as they won promotion back to Ligue 1 at the first attempt. Metz haven't had the best of pre-seasons with only a couple of wins and losses to Mainz and Reims. They had the best away record in Ligue 2 last season, only losing a couple of games. However, they have failed to score in five of their last nine away matches. Strasbourg have had the better pre-season and can use home advantage to get a win here.
