PSV Eindhoven have a good record in the Champions League. They regularly reach the group stages and made it to the last sixteen in the 2015-16 season, They had a tough time of it last season finishing bottom of their group behind Barcelona, Tottenham and Inter. Only one of their last eight home games in the Champions League has been won. That was a 3-0 win over BATE in last season's play-off round. Five of their last six home games in this competition have had over 2.5 goals scored in them.

FC Basel have been in fine form in their pre-season games. Plenty of goals have been scored by them with 17 in four matches. That form has been carried into their first game of the new league season with a 4-1 victory away at Sion. Their last eight games in the Champions League have produced four wins and four defeats. That includes a win at Manchester City in the 2017/18 season. Away form has seen them win three of the last four played. This is a difficult game to predict, the tip here is for over 2.5 goals to be scored.
