French champions PSG will get to play at home for the first time this season when they host Monaco. Winless, the Parisians are 11th, while Monaco are the early pacesetters. Being at home will offer so much reprieve, but this won’t be an easy encounter, considering Monaco are one of the in-form sides thus far.
This match will mark the fourth time the two giants of French football face off this calendar year. Any prediction that involves both sides scoring could hit right as only one clean sheet has been recorded in the teams’ last five meetings.
PSG are winless in their three domestic matches so far this season, and there will be concerns coming here as Monaco was the only side to beat them home and away last term. If there is one thing this match won’t be short of, it's entertainment; four of the teams’ last five meetings had at least four goals scored.

PSG - Monaco: Form Analysis
PSG are due for a reset, and playing at home for the first time in the season offers a good chance for that. The champions are in an unfamiliar territory, sitting 11th in the standings and being winless in three straight outings.
The only positives they can look to at the moment are that they are still unbeaten in Ligue 1 and have a commendable fighting spirit. Facing Rennes and Lille in their opening league matches, the champions rose from 2-0 down on both occasions to register 2-2 draws. The most dramatic of them was in their last outing, as PSG scored twice in stoppage time to peg back Lille.
PSG are winless in their last three Ligue 1 matches.
Monaco were among the few sides to enjoy good moments against PSG last season. The two sides met four times, with Monaco winning back-to-back league matches. They, however, failed to rattle PSG in the Champions League, which, of course, Les Parisiens went on to win.
As PSG wobbled towards the finish line in Ligue 1 last season, Monaco nicked a 3-1. Les Monégasques will be confident of repeating the feat following a good start. Juggling between European and Ligue 1 outings, they have posted four wins in as many encounters.

PSG & Monaco Squad Analysis
PSG will still be without the suspended Nuno Mendes, who is on the injury list anyway. His absence gives room for Lucas Digne to continue in the left-back role, the new signing looking to impress in these early days at the team.
Another player looking to impress will be Magnes Akliouche as he gets to face his immediate former club for the first time. Akliouche had 12 goal involvements in Ligue 1 at Monaco last season, featuring in 31 matches. There will also be special attention attached to Vitinha after the Portuguese led the fightback against Lille. He scored a goal and provided an assist to lift the champions from 2-0 down.
Vitinha scored twice in PSG’s last three home games against Monaco.
One of Monaco’s key players in this encounter will be Aleksandr Golovin. The Russian missed their opening match this season but has returned with two goal involvements in the last three games. He had an assist in the last game and also in his last two matches against PSG, one from which he got sent off. Monaco will have Ansu Fati and Folarin Balogun sidelined for this encounter.

Our PSG vs Monaco Prediction
From the outset, this match looks like a guarantee for entertainment. Last season alone, these teams met four times, and only one game returned a score line of 1-0. That win by Monaco was also the only time in five meetings that at least one of them failed to score.
In the remaining four, none had fewer than four goals. Two of Monaco’s four matches this season have already treated us to 4+ goals, and PSG are coming from two league matches that have recorded eight goals. With these numbers, our prediction for PSG v Monaco is for over 2.5 goals and BTTS.
PSG vs Monaco Alternative Predictions
Draw
Draws have been rare in this fixture, with the last 10 meetings only producing two. One of them was last season when PSG hosted this game in the Champions League. As both sides are still fresh in the season, we expect this battle to once again end in a draw. That will make our second prediction.
