The best chance for PSG and Lille to show their title credentials in Ligue 1 is here; the two face off right after the international break, with PSG playing host. Ahead of the match, the two sides are tied at 63 points, with PSG edging Lille on goal difference and it is set to be a very exciting encounter. For the second straight game, PSG will be facing a title contender, having beaten Lyon 4-2 in their last game before the break. Also, it will be their second time in about two weeks that they face Lille, having beaten them 3-0 in the French Cup clash in mid March. That was their fourth straight undefeated outing against Lille; they have four straight clean sheets against Lille, with three wins and having scored two or more in the three wins. In three of their last five matches, PSG have been able to hit three goals or more. They’ve suffered shock losses against Lorient, Monaco and Nantes in their last 10 league matches but have seven wins in the process, though they head here with two straight losses at home in Ligue 1. Lille lost 2-1 to relegation threatened Nimes in their last game before the break. It will need a lot of improvement from that performance to be able to shock the champions and take back their place at the top of the league but then they’ve failed to score in two of their last three matches and have only one clean sheet in the last four matches. A loss in this game could see Lille end the week in third place. In their last six Ligue 1 matches, Lille have managed two wins but they are unbeaten in nine away league matches, with seven wins therein. In their 14 Ligue 1 matches away from home this season, Lille have lost only once, and they have the best defence in the league, having conceded 19 goals. The last time they beat PSG was in April 2019, and that happens to be the only win they’ve had in this fixture in the last 21 meetings.
