A battle of the top dogs in Europe comes along this Tuesday in the third round of the UEFA Champions League. Defending champions PSG will play host to Barcelona at the Parc des Princes in a match that brings together two of the tournament’s favorites. Both teams have started their European campaigns with back-to-back wins, which means one perfect record will fall here.
PSG have taken down minnows Slovan Bratislava and former winners Manchester City in their opening matches. Barcelona, on the other hand, overcame Feyenoord and Galatasaray. As a result of their opening wins, the two occupy the top positions.
The two giants of European football are meeting for the 17th time, with the previous 16 producing a balanced run all through. Each side won six times with four matches drawn, each scoring 29 goals, which leads to our prediction for a high-scoring game. PSG will feel they have the edge in this game, having only lost once in the last five meetings with Barcelona.

PSG - Barcelona: Form Analysis
Two of the best sides in Europe go face to face. PSG are eyeing a third straight Champions League crown and are having their best start in the league phase. Two wins in two matches have them topping the standings after scoring 10 times in their two games. The European champions have struggled a bit domestically but are a different animal in Europe.
After coming from down to beat Strasbourg 3-1 on Saturday, they will be looking to extend their impressive CL form against a formidable opponent. In the last round, Les Parisiens visited Manchester City and beat the Premier League giants 4-2. That stretched their unbeaten run in the Champions League to 12 games.
None of Barcelona’s last 45 Champions League matches ended goalless.
Barcelona have started their season well, both domestically and in Europe, which makes this a top game. The Catalans have won all of their 11 matches, both at home and on the continent. This, however, is the most formidable opponent they are going to face so far. They had the perfect warmup for the game, beating La Liga title contender Real Betis 5-2 over the weekend.
Barcelona have now netted three or more goals in nine straight matches. They have also scored four or more in four straight league phase matches. Despite the good stats, Barcelona haven’t managed a clean sheet in 17 UCL matches, a dangerous detail to carry to Paris.

PSG & Barcelona Squad Analysis
While these two sides have a long history of doing player trades, the flow has largely been one-sided. Players almost always leave Spain for Paris, and the latest bigwig in such moves was Ferran Torres. None had imagined at the close of last season that the Spanish international would be a PSG player this season.
It so happened very fast after the 2026 World Cup, in which he scored the title-winning goal. A reunion with his former manager has seen him settle fast in Paris, and he already has seven goals and an assist at PSG. Last time against Manchester City, however, he missed a late penalty.
Yamal has scored 12 Champions League goals as a teenager, one short of Kylian Mbappe’s record.
Just like Luis Enrique has history against Barcelona that he’d want replicated, so does Hansi Flick at Barcelona. As Bayern Munich coach, Flick led his team to a 1-0 win over PSG in the 2020 CL final.
Among the players he will place his trust in here is youngster Lamine Yamal. While the Spain international has scored once in the Champions League, he has five goal involvements in the two matchdays. This season, he has 24 goal contributions for club and country.

PSG vs Barcelona Alternative Predictions
PSG wins
Our second prediction will be for a home win. While Barcelona have been in superb form, they have lost three of their last four matches against French opponents. In Paris, they meet their former player and coach, Luis Enrique, who has engineered two wins in three against Barcelona.
Les Parisiens have also managed 10 wins in their last 16 matches in Europe, portraying them as a very strong outfit, having only lost once in the 16.
