Portugal were made to wait in their bid to secure a 2026 World Cup slot. They could do it at home against Armenia in their final match in Group F of the qualifiers. Heading into this clash, we have a prediction below.

The former European champions were humbled in Dublin, handed a 2-0 loss by Ireland. This will be their last throw of the dice, and should it go wrong, Portugal would have to seek a ticket through the playoffs.

It isn’t the route they’d want to take, especially after their star player Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off against Ireland. The Portuguese have managed one point in the last two matches and can’t afford another slipup.

Armenia’s hopes at appearing at the world stage are officially extinguished after suffering their fifth loss in six matches in Group F. They are fresh off a 1-0 defeat at home to Hungary, which left them on three points at the foot of the group.

As they have nothing much to play for, the Armenians will be out to stop another heavy loss, having fallen 5-0 at home against the Portuguese. That was their fourth straight defeat at the hands of Portugal and the third in that run without scoring.

Armenia have an even gloomier away record, having lost seven of their last 10 outings.
