Benfica could be out of the Champions League places by the time this match starts. They are third in the Primeira League and travel to Portimonense who are ninth but in good form. Benfica are in the final Champions League place but six points behind second placed Porto. The difference between those two places is that the second placed side goes straight into the group stage, not the qualifiers. However, Benfica are only two points clear of fourth placed Braga. They play before this match, so a win will see Benfica drop a place. Benfica had won six straight league games without coneding a goal before hosting Gil Vicente at the weekend. That run came to an end as they lost 2-1, their first league loss since losing to leaders Sporting on February 1. Their run-in isn't too difficult bar a home game against Porto. Away from home, Benfica have just that loss at Sporting in their last ten league matches. The last three have all been won by an aggregate score of 10-0. 

Portimonense are nearly safe as they are now eight points above the relegation zone. They come into this match having won their last three league games with nine goals scored. Two of those wins were against sides in the bottom four. They had a 5-1 win at Nacional who have lost nine of their last ten games and are bottom of the table. There was a 1-0 home win over sixth placed Vitoria Guimaraes but they've lost seven of their last ten league matches. This is going to be a much harder game for them. Sporting and Porto have already won at Portminonense this season, go for Benfica to get a victory here and stay in the Champions League positions.
