Poland hosting Russia is among the high profile friendly matches lined up ahead of the Euro 2020 Championships set for June. The two nations are looking to get into shape ahead of the tournament, after struggling in their recent outings. Poland, the hosts, will be glad to have key man Robert Lewandowski back from injury, having scored three goals in the two matches before getting injured and missing the England game. The Poles have one win and three losses in their last five matches, and have just one clean sheet in the process. They’ve conceded two or more goals in four of their last five but have eight goals in their last four matches. Lewandowski’s return offers the assurance of goals for Poland but they will need to strengthen in defence for the full effect to be felt.

Russia are also not on a very impressive run and heading to the Euros, they will hope to address this. In the last five matches, they have three losses while their last 10 matches have delivered just three wins. They did start their World Cup qualification campaign well, with two wins over Malta and Slovenia but met a brick-wall against Slovakia in their most recent game. The 2-1 loss to Slovakia was less humiliating than the earlier 5-0 loss to Serbia, while a 3-2 loss to Turkey much earlier means the team hasn’t managed a clean sheet in the last five matches. In those five matches they’ve conceded 12 goals, and scored eight, with each of them producing over 2.5 goals. Artem Dzyuba is to Russia what Lewandowski is to Poland and with the two goal poachers available there’s a promise of goals here.
