Palmeiras have made a strong start to the season with seven wins and just two defeats in their opening ten. They beat Gremio in midweek to make it four successive victories a result that saw them climb to the summit of the table. At their own ground they are strong with 13 points taken from a possible 15.

Santos were also victorious in midweek when they handed Athletico Paranense only their second defeat of the season coming out as 2-1 victors.  It means they have lost just one of their last six after starting out with two defeats in their opening four.  Away from their own ground they have struggled with just one point from four played this season and no win in nine if you go back to the previous campaign.
