Palmeiras will resume league action hoping to bounce back at home to Coritiba after their elimination from the Brazilian Cup. Going into round nine, the two sides are on opposite ends with Palmeiras second and Coritiba bottom of the standings. Both teams have scored in three of Palmeiras’ last four league matches. They have a good run at home, unbeaten in 15 league matches drawing back to last season. This season, they have played four home league matches, scoring but conceding in all.

While Palmeiras are yet to lose a league game this season, Coritiba are yet to win any of the opening eight. Coritiba flirted with relegation for the better part of last season and seem to be taking the same route this season too. So far, they have three points only, from three draws in their eight league games. They face the league’s best scoring side and this will be a tough one for them. In three of their last four league matches, Coritiba have scored first, but went on to drop points. Defensively, Coritiba have been poor, coming into this game without a clean sheet in 10 matches. The visitors have conceded two or more goals in seven of their last 10 matches. Away from home, Coritiba have suffered losses in four of their last five matches.
