Two days after reaching the Eastbourne final, Max Purcell plays in the first round at Wimbledon. The unseeded Australian takes on qualifier Otto Virtanen for a place in the last 64.

Next up for the winner of this match will be either 12th seed Tommy Paul or unseeded Pedro Martinez. Purcell is up to 68th in the live rankings after getting to the final of the Eastbourne International.

The 26-year-old has played in this grass court Grand Slam on three previous occasions. He's yet to win a match and last year lost in round one to the seventh seeded Andrey Rublev. 

Before his good run in Eastbourne, Purcell had lost in the first round of both the Libema Open and in Halle. Then he found his form though no seeded players were beaten. He eventually lost to top seed Taylor Fritz in the final.

Otto Virtanen spent last week playing in the Wimbledon qualifiers. In his first two three-set matches, the Finnish player had to come from behind to get the win. The final qualifying round was played over five sets and he beat Roman Andres Burruchaga in four sets.

That win has taken Virtanen into the main draw at Wimbledon for the first time. His only other appearance was last year when losing in the final qualifying round. Vertanen is up to 147th in the live rankings, 38 below his career-high.

He played two grass court tournaments before the qualifiers. In both the Libema Open and Queen's Club he failed to make it into the main draw, losing two of his three matches. We tip Purcell to win this.
