Orlando Pirates vs AmaZulu FC Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier Soccer League
by Daniel Ngulu | in Premier Soccer League Prediction
AmaZulu have had a great run since Benni McCarthy took charge and are almost securing a CAF Champions League slot. The second placed side, with 50 points will travel to Johannesburg to take on fourth placed Orlando Pirates, who have so far garnered 43 points. This game is a contest for the remaining Champions League place, with Mamelodi Sundowns poised to win the league title. Pirates are coming from a very tough outing in Morocco, where they were thrashed 4-0 by Raja Casablanca and are now winless in three straight outings. A 3-0 home loss to Mamelodi Sundowns earlier in May also points to Pirates’ soft underbelly and they’ve failed to score in three of their last five matches. Their only win in the last five matches has come against bottom placed Black Leopards, and the 3-0 win there was one of the two clean sheets they have in the last seven games. They are a different side when playing at home though, with five wins in their last six matches. In the last five league games at home they have four clean sheets and in total, they have one loss in their last 17 home matches in the league.
A win in this game will guarantee AmaZulu a place in the Champions League next season and that will form their biggest target going to this clash. They will have to improve on their performance in the last game, where they lost 1-0 at home to mid table side Baroka. That was their first loss in 17 league matches and the second time in 11 league matches that they’ve failed to score. Pirates and AmaZulu drew 1-1 in the first leg meeting but that was before McCarthy’s arrival. AmaZulu are winless in 11 matches against Pirates, but unlike in the previous meetings, Pirates will meet a stronger AmaZulu here. A 0-0 draw with Sundowns, a 5-1 win over Cape Town City and a 1-0 win over high flying Golden Arrows just about point to the visitors’ strength going to this game and for the first time, Pirates will have the underdogs’ feel. A five-game winning run away from home adds to AmaZulu’s placing as favorites going to this game.

Our Orlando Pirates vs AmaZulu FC Prediction
Orlando Pirates are on a poor run heading to this game, and they’re sure to struggle, as they come from a tough away game in North Africa. For Pirates, this game comes just three days after the 4-0 loss in Morocco, and they find a well rested AmaZulu who last played about two weeks ago. AmaZulu are also on a good away run and we will be backing them for victory here.
