A win over Daniil Medvedev will see Novak Djokovic make tennis history. It will not just complete the first calendar Grand Slam in 52 years but also be a record 21st title for Djokovic. He's currently level on 20 Grand Slam wins with the absent Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. Now he can go ahead of them and to do so he has to repeat his 2021 Australian Open final victory over Daniil Medvedev. It's not been the smoothest of routes to the final for Djokovic. He's already lost six sets in this tournament and had to go to five sets to get past Alexander Zverev in his semi-final. Djokovic has also lost the first set in four straight matches, something to think about if indulging in some set betting. He's won five of his last seven matches against Medvedev but lost three of the last five. Of their seven previous meetings, only one has been won in straight sets.

Daniil Medvedev is in his third Grand Slam final but still waiting for his first victory. He lost to Rafael Nadal in the final of this tournament two years ago, and then to Djokovic in this year's Australian Open. He has won three singles tournament this year, the most prestigious being the recent Toronto Masters. Medvedev also was the senior player when Russia won the ATP Cup in February with wins over three of the top ten players at the time. He's had wins in this tournament over Richard Gasquet, Dominik Koepfer, Pablo Andujar, 24th seeded Daniel Evans, Botic van de Zandschlup and 12th seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime.
