Reading’s season is ending in disappointment yet again after failing to at least make it to the promotion playoffs in the Championship. In their penultimate game of the season, they will be traveling to Norwich in a game that has really little impact for them. Hosts Norwich top the standings with 93 points while Reading are seventh on 69. Norwich have already secured promotion but a win in this game will see them crowned champions. The hosts have just that to play for but after recovering from two straight losses to beat QPR in the last game, they’ll want to finish their home matches with a bang. Norwich were promoted with five games to spare after a fine season in the second tier, making an instant return to the Premier League, just months after finishing bottom in the top flight. They haven’t kept a clean sheet since confirmation of their promotion and they went on to lose the two matches right after the confirmation. The two losses were both home matches and as they return at home, they’ll be hoping for a better outing. At home this season, Norwich have won 13 of 22 league matches.

Meanwhile, at Reading it has been all gloom, and especially after their 2-2 draw with Swansea, which confirmed they won’t finish in the top six. They started the season well and went unbeaten in the opening eight league games. They led the standings going into November and had the feel of a champion in waiting but all that has since crumbled. They go to this clash without a win in four Championship matches. A run of one win in nine league matches has seen Barnsley and Bournemouth overtake Reading to book playoff places. They’ve been at their lowest in away matches, winning just seven of their last 22 Championship games on the road. They have no win in the last five away matches in the Championship and have failed to score in the last two.
