A 2-0 loss to the Hammers means Norwich remain bottom of the standings with 10 points, while Everton are nine points better, and placed 15th. Norwich have failed to replicate their form in the Championship last season and all signs point to a return to the second tier at the first time of asking. In 20 league matches, they have two wins only and they are the poorest in attack, with just eight goals. They’ve also had the most porous defence, conceding 44 goals so far. Norwich are three points away from safety, and while at that, they have played two more matches than the 17th placed side, Watford.

Everton are also enduring a tough season; Rafa Benitez has failed to inspire the team after a good start earlier in the campaign. Everton have managed just five wins in the 18 they’ve played; they are poor defensively but not as bad as Norwich. In attack they are also better than Norwich and will go to this game feeling it is a chance at three points. In the last 13 matches, Everton have managed just two wins, and they get here straight from a 3-2 win over Hull City in the FA Cup. That was the third time in four matches that they have conceded two or more goals but the fifth straight time that they scored. The Toffees have just one clean sheet in their last 12 matches and the biggest advantage they will have in this game is their scoring run compared to Norwich’s.
