The opening round at the 2026 European Men’s Handball Championship will see Norway taking on Ukraine on Thursday afternoon. These sides are joined by France and the Czech Republic in Group C of this competition. Let’s get into the match prediction!

Norway qualified for the 2026 Euro Championship as one of the host nations. They failed to get beyond the main round of the competition in 2024, while their best finish was reaching the semis in 2016. 

After reaching the quarter-final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, the Norwegians have experienced a dip in form, suffering an early exit at the World Championships and the Golden League last year.

Norway have only won three of their last 10 matches in all competitions, but they have won their last two games against this opponent. 

Meanwhile, after failing to qualify for the 2024 edition of the Euro Championship, Ukraine earned their spot in the 2026 competition by finishing as one of the best third-placed teams in this year’s qualifiers. 

They did not feature at the World Championships last year, but they have had good preparation leading up to this competition, most recently defeating Bahrain 33-31 last week. 

Ukraine have won three of their last 10 games in all competitions. In four previous matches against Norway, they’ve only won once, back in January 2001.
