Northern Ireland battled hard but were eventually unlucky in not qualifying for the upcoming World Cup in Russia. It took a disputed Swiss penalty to defeat them in the play-offs and now they host South Korea who did make it through to the finals. The Irish side have gone four games without a win having also been defeated by group winners Germany and then 1-0 in Norway, though qualification for the play-offs had been ensured by then and they were without several key players. Home form for Northern Ireland has seen them win three and lose three and in friendlies they have only lost one of their last seven games.
South Korea finished second in their qualifying group to qualify for the World Cup. They finished seven points behind Iran and nearly blew their qualification hopes by ending the group with a run of just two points from their last three games even after sacking their coach midway through the campaign. South Korea finished two points clear of Syria and Uzbekistan but had a nightmare time on the road in that group earning just two points and scoring in just one of their five away games and it was the four wins and a draw at home that got them to Russia. They are unbeaten in their last eight games and won the EFAF-E-1 Championship at the end of last year. This looks like being a tight game between these two sides with neither being prolific goalscorers, so go for under 2.5 goals in this match.
