Next up for the Super Eagles in the AFCON is a RO16 game against Mozambique. It's been nothing short of entertainment for Nigeria, one of the only two teams to win all their group games. The question now is, will Nigeria beat The Mambas, or will the snakes get the better of the eagles this time? Read our match prediction below.
Along with Algeria, Nigeria remains the only team with a perfect start for the 2025 AFCON. The Super Eagles are determined to go all the way and win it this time after losing to Ivory Coast in the final of the 2024 edition. The three-time AFCON winners Uganda 3-1 with their second team on the final day, following their 3-2 win over Tunisia and 2-1 opening day victory over Tanzania.
They now eye a quarterfinal spot as they hunt for their first major title since 2013. But a win over Mozambique is first in order. For The Mambas, reaching the RO16 has already been an achievement, after losing two of their three games to Cameroon and Ivory Coast. Their silver lining was a 3-2 win over Gabon, who lost all three group games.

Nigeria - Mozambique: Form Analysis
Nigeria is arguably the best team in the tournament so far, after having won all three group games. They did so, scoring the most goals in the group stage (8), while creating the most big chances by Round 3.
You can almost feel the anger in their game after failing to qualify for the World Cup in a qualification final loss to DR Congo on penalties.
Even with that defeat, the Nigerian senior team hasn't lost its last 13 games (outside friendlies) by full-time.
Mozambique would be wishing they could say the same. While they made it to the RO16, they only did so thanks to the 3-2 win against Gabon, as they lost the other two games.
That win now marks The Mambas’ first and only victory in their last six games. And in their last 14 senior team games, Mozambique have only won four, while losing eight matches.

Nigeria & Mozambique Squad Analysis
Several players have been widely impressive for the Super Eagles, but Ademola Lookman has been the best so far.
Lookman has four goal contributions, which is the joint-highest in the tournament so far. But his run is the most impressive after having only played the opening two games.
Lookman scored the winner against Tanzania before contributing two assists and a goal against Tunisia in the 3-2 win.
Alongside him is Victor Osimhen, who netted a goal and dropped an assist against Tunisia. That's just the kind of performers you'd expect from two of the past three African Player of the Year winners.
The Mambas also boast a deadly attacker in their ranks who goes by the name Geny Catamo. The Sporting CP man assisted the opener against Gabon, then followed through with the second goal of the game.
Catamo also netted the opening goal against Cameroon, which now puts him at three G/A for the tournament and five in his last four games.

Our Nigeria vs Mozambique Prediction
Nigeria finished the group stages with the most goals, which is no surprise with the likes of Osimhen and Lookman in the lineups. They've consistently scored goals, netting multiple even against the toughest defences.
Tunisia, who set a world record by qualifying for the World Cup without conceding a single goal, were victims of Nigeria, who scored three by the 67th minute. And with The Mambas conceding in all games so far, and 2+ in eight of their last 12, the Super Eagles should net multiple once more. Hence, our Nigeria vs Mozambique prediction is Nigeria Over 1.5 Goals.
