Newcastle United slipped into the relegation zone after losing to Chelsea last weekend. They are 18th and that's five places and three points behind the visitors Wolverhampton Wanderers. The home side have a big problem this season because they have only scored five league goals in nine games. They've spent a lot of money on Joelinton and Almiron and between them they have scored just one goal. Newcastle have five joint top league scorers this season, each of them with just one goal. That's a third of the number Raheem Sterling scored in 11 minutes in midweek. Their only home league win has been over Manchester United but four games have seen only four goals scored. Until United sort out their striking problems, they are going to face another battle to stay in the Premier League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers had a poor start to their Premier League season. They qualified for the Europa League group stages (this is written before Thursday's game in Bratislava) but found themselves in the Premier League relegation zone. None of their first six league games were won before a home victory over Watford. Their form has improved though, including a 2-0 win at Manchester City. At the time of writing this preview, the last seven Wolves games have all had under 2.5 goals scored in them. Four out of five away league matches have also seen that stat come up. Aside from the 3-2 loss at Everton, they have only conceded one away league goal. A bet on under 2.5 goals in this match looks a winner.
