Newcastle United are 15th in the Premier League and almost safe. They are seven points clear of Cardiff City and have a better goal difference. A win over Southampton and defeat for Cardiff at home to Liverpool will confirm their position in the top flight next season. Then the usual summer will begin with fans wondering if Rafael Benitez will stay, Mike Ashley will leave and whether they'll get any big signings in the transfer window. United won away at Leicester last weekend, their first away victory since December when beating Huddersfield Town. Home form had been keeping them out of trouble with five straight home league wins before a defeat by Crystal Palace. Three of their final four games are against sides currently in the bottom five with the other being against Liverpool.

Southampton are 16th in the table and only five points ahead of Cardiff City but with a game in hand. They have won three of their last four league games to again rescue themselves from relegation trouble. Away from home, they have only one win from their last four league games, a 1-0 win at out-of-form Brighton and Hove Albion. Only four away league wins have been recorded this season with nine defeats. This looks like being a tight game and a bet on under 2.5 goals is the suggested bet.
