It's not going to be an enjoyable week for Newcastle United fans. It's the final week of the transfer window and more frustration as they struggle to buy any players likely to take them up the Premier League table. Saturday saw a home FA Cup loss to a weakened Watford team and now they have to host Manchester City followed by an away game against Tottenham. Newcastle are a place and two points above the relegation zone but won their last league game 3-0 at home to Cardiff City. Before that though they had lost three of their last four league games. Newcastle have only scored 19 goals in 23 league games which is 11 less than Manchester City have scored this January. They have already lost eight home league games this season with just ten goals scored.

It seems hell hath no fury like a Manchester City team scorned. A poor run of form in December has been followed by eight straight wins by an aggregate score of 33-2 with the last six won 28-0. Frightening statistics indeed but they still trail league leaders Liverpool by four points. City have won seven away league games this season and only conceded seven goals. It's 14 years since they lost a league game to Newcastle United and in their current almost unstoppable form, they can win this and be ahead at both half and full time.
