Newcastle United are in for another tough game, as they are scheduled to host league leaders Manchester City. Ahead of this game, Manchester City top the league standings with 41 points while Newcastle United are 19th on 10 points. Newcastle are yet to find their footing going into Match Day 18 of the league. Their only win so far was against Burnley, and they have failed to add on to it in the two matches that have followed. They are coming from a 3-1 defeat at Liverpool, having earlier lost 4-0 at Leicester City. In the last five matches they have one clean sheet but have conceded 10 goals, which doesn’t place them so well going into a game against Manchester City. In six of their last 10 league matches, they’ve conceded two or more goals, pointing to a struggling defence.

City are coming from a 7-0 win over Leeds United and this should be another routine win for the champions. While they have lost twice in the league this season, City remains the best performing side and their defence says it all. They have the second best attack, with 40 goals and have only conceded nine – the fewest in the league. They go to this game on the back of seven straight wins in the league and they’ve taken half time leads in four of their last five league matches. In their last 10 matches, City have scored two or more goals in eight. The champions will be unfazed by having to play away from home; in the league this season, they only suffered an away loss in their opening game, against Tottenham. After that, they’ve won six and drawn one of the seven that followed and in the last five they’ve scored two or more in each.
