The season hasn’t started so well for New York Red Bulls and they will be hoping for some reprieve as they welcome Orlando City on Match Day 7 of the MLS. After six matches in the Eastern Conference, New York RB are 10th with a paltry six points while Orlando City have managed 12 points and are second in the standings. New York RB are coming from two straight away matches, and straight losses in the matches. They’ve also had a player sent off in each of the last two matches. In the most recent game, they lost 3-1 to New England after letting a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute slip. Andres Felipe Reyes scored the New York RB goal but was sent off in the 38th minute. It was the fourth defeat they’ve suffered this season already but with two straight wins at home, they’ll be happy to be back at their yard. Drawing back to last season, New York RB have lost just once in their last six home matches in the MLS and they’ve scored in each of the last eight. Meanwhile, Orlando City are one of the two unbeaten sides in the Eastern Conference and among the three across the two conferences. They have a game in hand and with a win, they could go top, if New England drop points at Cincinnati. In their opening six matches, Orlando City have three wins and as many draws. They haven’t been scoring multiple goals but doing just enough to get the points; in their six matches, they’ve exceeded one goal in just one game – the 3-0 win over bottom side Cincinnati. Otherwise the team has scored once in four of the last five matches, after opening their campaign with a 0-0 draw with Atlanta United. This will be their third away game of the season; in the opening two, they’ve earned four points. Orlando City have one loss in the last 10 away league matches.
