New York Mets vs New York Yankees Prediction & Betting Tips - MLB Spring Training

The Subway Series comes to spring training as the New York Mets take on the New York Yankees. The Mets started the spring well at 4-1 but they have been beaten in four straight games, although three of those came on the road, only the defeat to the Houston Astros last time out came in Port Saint Lucie. Trayce Thompson is a new Met who was a solid outfielder in all three positions for the Los Angeles Dodgers for quite a few years and he has made an excellent start for New York with four hits in eight at-bats, including two home runs. Pete Alonso is the undoubted star in the team with 46 home runs last year, his 3rd 40+ home run season in the first five of his career.

The Yankees have not managed to pick up all that many hits this season but they have put plenty of balls over the wall. They were beaten by the Detroit Tigers and the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend, struggling to score. Early in spring training, they were smashing in the runs but they have dried up considerably in recent games. DJ LeMahieu has been struggling, picking up a single hit from nine at-bats. He has lost his way a little in the last couple of seasons but the signing of Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres has been inspired so far. It is still early days but he has six hits in nine at-bats, including three home runs to lead the team. The short right-field porch at Yankee Stadium is just made for him when the season proper gets underway.
