New York City return to action in the MLS Eastern Conference as they host Montreal Impact at the Red Bull Arena. Both teams have endured contrasting fortunes in recent outings but are separated by just five points in the table. While Montreal occupy fourth-place in the standings with 22 points, New York City sit in seventh-place with 17 points from 12 games – one fewer than Montreal.

Ronny Deila’s New York City head into the game on the back of successive defeats. Notably, the first of those two games were against Montreal, who came from behind to secure a 2-1 win after Keaton Parks had opened the scoring for New York City. Meanwhile, Montreal have been in scintillating form in recent weeks. The club have won four of their last six outings, including the last three matches, while also remaining unbeaten during the run. In the wake of their comeback win over New York City courtesy of goals from Mason Toye and Romell Quioto, Montreal beat Cincinnati 5-4 in the last game. It was nothing short of a remarkable display as Montreal came from two goals behind twice to get the better of Cincinnati, thanks to braces from Toye, Ahmed Hafez and a goal from Joaquin Torres.

This meeting would be another opportunity for Montreal to try and stretch their winning run, if they do, they will complete the double over New York City.
