Runaway French leaders Paris Saint-Germain are back in Ligue 1 action in midweek when they travel to Nantes. PSG are top of the table and have a 13-point lead over nearest rivals Marseille at the time of writing. Nantes, meanwhile, are in eighth place only two points away from a European spot. Bossed by former Lorient coach Christian Gourcuff, Nantes are reeling from a dramatic defeat at Rennes on Friday night. Despite leading until the 95th minute, they somehow ended up losing 3-2. It's bizarre but when your luck is out then these things can happen. PSG enjoy the more fortuitous aspects of luck. With the quality of players at their disposal, they rarely need any assistance; this doesn't stop breaks from coming their way. They happened during the 5-0 win over Montpellier on Saturday, helped to the thumping victory by their opponents having two men sent off. At least, Nantes have a much better disciplinary record.

A record that could use some work is their head-to-head with PSG. Nantes have lost five of their last six encounters with the big bad wolf of French football. Interestingly, the only time they avoided defeat was in this fixture last season when they beat PSG 3-2 at the Stade de la Beaujoire. Their home record doesn't inspire confidence (it's the twelfth-best in the division) and PSG have the best Ligue 1 record on the road. The form is on the side of PSG too. We're used to seeing PSG win but the manner they have been playing in of late leads many to believe that it could finally be the season in which they challenge for the Champions League. Nantes have lost four of their last six matches in all competitions. Another loss is incoming. Back PSG to win both halves.
