Montpellier finished 10th in Ligue 1 last season but have made a good start to the new season. They are fourth in the table going into the weekend's matches and are on an eight-game unbeaten run. Their season began with a 2-1 home defeat by Dijon taking an early lead but eventually losing to a 91st minute winner for the away side. They bounced back with a 2-1 win at Amiens then had two draws and a win in their next three. Their last four league matches have seen them win two at home and draw both away. They have only conceded one goal in the last four home matches with one defeat in the last six but six draws in the last eleven.

The visitors are seventh in the league but will go ahead of Montpellier if winning this match. They are also on an unbeaten run with five games since their last league defeat. That's a good comeback as they lost both of their opening league matches before getting off the mark with a win over struggling Monaco. The following game saw them lose at Rennes leaving them with just three points from their first four matches. It could have got worse as they trailed Nimes 2-1 at home before being denied a win by a late away goal ending the game 3-3. Since then it's been onwards and upwards with three wins and a draw. Three of their league wins have come against the bottom three in the league but a 1-0 home win over second placed Lille was a good effort. Four away games have produced four points, the only win being at bottom of the table Guingamp and they have only scored once in the other three. Go for Montpellier to continue their good start to the season with a home win.
