But since then, she has only once won successive fixtures and this was just two in a row. She lost in the quarter-finals in Stuttgart, a tournament she had made three successive finals, before arriving in Madrid. In her opener here, Sabalenka required a decider to defeat Magda Linette. The two-time Madrid Open champion has dropped to third in the live ranking due to her recent struggles.
