Monaco enter matchday 19 in Ligue 1 aiming to cut down a seven-point gap behind Marseille in second place as they play host to Rennes at Stade Louis-II. Monaco are fourth in the table and are 14 points ahead of 14th-placed Rennes. Here's our match prediction. 

Monaco boosted their Champions League qualification by seeing off the threat of Aston Villa in a 1-0 home victory on Tuesday.

The Rouge et Blanc now turn their focus to the league where they've been behind disappointing results. Their most recent match saw them lose 2-1 against Montpellier on the road. 

This result extended their winless run in the league to four matches, recording two losses and two draws. This is their longest winless run since former head coach Philippe Clement's tenure, a streak that happened twice during the 2022/23 season.

Rennes had no European football commitments and headed into this match with a fresh pair of legs.

Les Rennais have been poor in domestic competitions as they have lost four consecutive matches across all competitions since a 4-1 thrashing of Bordeaux three days before Christmas Day. 

It has to be pointed out that three of those losses have been recorded in the league, with the most recent being a 2-1 home defeat against Brest over the weekend. This result marked their fourth defeat in five games with a home win over Angers being the exception.
