Monaco vs PSG Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

Just when it seemed like Monaco were building up a head of steam, they went and blew it away to Bordeaux last week. That defeat left them in 13th place and now they have to host PSG who lead the table by five points. They go into this game having the second most goals conceded in Ligue 1 so a match against PSG would’ve probably been pretty far down their wish list for this week. Much of les Monegasques’ dismay has come on the road so far though with four of their last five defeats all coming away from the Stade Louis II. While their defensive mishaps have followed them around like a cloud at their home stadium, their attacking play has been a joy to watch and crucial in their success. Jardim’s men have won each of their last five games at home with key victories coming against Rennes (3-2) and Marseille (2-1). They have scored 13 goals in this time and will be looking to continue that as they host PSG.  

Sometimes it can be difficult to point out the cracks in this imperious PSG side currently five points clear at the top of the table, but they do exist despite the incredible success as of late. Paris have won nine of their last eleven games in all competitions but there has been a slight underperformance of late away from home. They have kept just the one clean sheet in their last five away games with goals being conceded to teams of the utmost quality like Madrid (2-2) but also rather poor outfits such as Dijon (1-2) and Brest (2-1). The Parisians have still managed to dominate in attack with 14 goals scored in this time, but their rather leaky defence could be exposed here as they travel to a Monaco side that shines in the final third. However, there have been many occasions over the last few years where many have expected Monaco to nick a point and it hasn’t quite happened with the champions winning each of the last nine clashes between these sides. Nevertheless, Tuchel’s men have conceded in three of their last four trips to the principality so we’re backing the hosts to get a goal in this one.
