Monaco vs Nantes Prediction & Betting Tips - Ligue 1

Monaco seems to have turned around their troubles of yesteryears and will be gunning for an even better campaign after a third placed finish in Ligue 1 last season. They start off their league campaign with a home game against Nantes on Friday. Ahead of this game, they registered a 2-0 win away to Sparta Prague and will be charged up for this. Stevan Jovetic is no longer at the club but the side still has Kevin Volland and Wissam Ben Yedder, the two who scored a combined 36 goals last season. Volland was on target in the win in Prague and will be expected to carry this run to the Nantes game. Monaco had a good preseason, winning three and losing one of their five matches and their good start in the Champions League should fuel their charge going to the Ligue 1 campaign. They have six wins and two losses in the last 10 matches. In three of their last five matches, Monaco have scored two goals or more and six of their last 10 have produced over 2.5 goals. However, in the last six matches, they have just two clean sheets.

Nantes had a poor campaign last season, and were very unstable, it took three managers, one caretaker and wins in the playoffs to see them keep their Ligue 1 place. They finished the season in 18th place and were eliminated from the French Cup in the round of 64. Hopes for a new season are really high at Stade de la Beaujore but still, their form going into the opening game isn’t the best. They’ve lost four of their last five matches in preseason, with the only win coming against Brest (3-1). Nantes have no clean sheet in those five matches and they’ve failed to score in three. Antoine Kombouare saw the team through a good finish last season and will hope for a better start and campaign this time. Nantes have six straight losses in matches against Monaco.
