BATE Borisov have made a disappointing start to the new Belarus Premier League season. They are down in 11th and travel to FC Minsk whoare third in the league after two wins out of three. BATE lost both of their opening two league games, both were away from home and both teams got on the scoresheet in each game. They finally got off the mark with a 1-0 home win over newly-promoted Rukh Brest. Another loss came in midweek though when they lost 1-0 at Slavia Mozyr (who also beat them in the league) in the first leg of their Belarus Cup semi-final. 

FC Minsk have made a much better start to the new season with two wins and one loss. Their season began with them coming from behind to win 3-1 at Belshina (currently bottom of the table). Another high-scoring game followed as they beat Dinamo Minsk 3-2 at home. All three of their goals came in the first half but they survived a second half comeback by their opponents. Their unbeaten run came to an end when they lost 2-0 at league leaders Energetik. These two sides had a thrilling match at Minsk last season with a 3-2 win for the home side.
