by Devesh Jaganath in Championship Predictions
Millwall and Oxford United will be hoping to kickstart 2025 in the Championship with a victory when they meet at The Den on Wednesday afternoon. The Lions are in 13th place in the league standings while the U’s are 20th. Check out our match prediction below.
Millwall ended 2024 poorly, playing out a goalless draw away to Coventry City on Sunday, meaning they managed just one win in their final nine matches of the year (W1 D4 L4).
Notably, that draw also marked the fourth time in the last six matches that the Lions failed to score, a notable downturn after scoring in eight in succession before that.
The hosts have earned 20 of their 29 points this season at the Den, but have only picked up one win in their last four.
In contrast, Oxford United ended the year positively, as they managed to claw their way out the relegation zone with back-to-back wins over Cardiff and Plymouth since Christmas.
Those results followed a seven-match run without victory and another win on Wednesday would mark the first time that the U’s have won three in a row in the league this season.
However, both those victories were at home, while on the road, the Yellows are winless this season, currently on a five-match losing streak and failed to score in any of those defeats.

Our Millwall vs Oxford United Prediction
After losing to Coventry and Sheffield United at home earlier this month, Millwall bounced back with a very good effort to beat Blackburn at the Den last week and this will be a fixture they are aiming for all three points in.
Oxford will certainly be feeling better about themselves after moving out of the bottom three last weekend, but their away record is among the worst in the division and we feel they will struggle to take anything from this one. Our Millwall vs Oxford United prediction is Millwall wins.
