A 2-0 win over New Zealand got Russia's Confederation Cup campaign off to a good start. Then they lost 1-0 to Portugal and that puts them in deep trouble in this group. Portugal should get a win over New Zealand in their final game, then that means Russia have to win this match against Mexico to finish in the top two and reach the semi-finals. Form for Russia has been a bit patchy for a while with just four wins in their last 17 games. It's a good job they are in the next World Cup as hosts because chances are if they were in the qualifying sections, they might be having a bit of a struggle. Mexico had to come from behind twice to get a point against Portugal in their opening game and then had to come from behind to get a 2-1 win over New Zealand. Not the most impressive of performances to date but they top the group and know a draw would be enough to get them into the semi-finals of this rather meaningless tournament. Go for under three goals to be scored in this game.
