It has taken the 20-year-old over 11 hours to reach this Sunshine Swing quarter-final. Tuesday saw him defeat 32nd seed (and conqueror of Carlos Alcaraz) in three sets. Landaluce has now beaten a seed in each of the last three rounds after previously beating Luciano Darderi and Karen Khachanov.
Jiri Lehecka is also playing in his first Miami Open quarter-final. This is the third time this year that he has made it to the last eight of a tournament. He beat sixth seed Taylor Fritz in round four in three sets.
That was the first set that the 24-year-old has lost in this tournament. He's played a tie-break in each of his three matches. Lehecka is now 18th in the live rankings and that's 87 places ahead of Landaluce who is a career-high 105th.
