Marseille are fifth in Ligue 1 and that would see them missing out on the Europa League next season. They have been overtaken by St Etienne after a run of one point from three games and are now two adrift of that vital fourth position. They have lost their last two away games, though one was at runaway leaders PSG with the other being at Bordeaux. Most disappointing was their home draw with Angers after leading 2-0 after 16 minutes thanks to two goals by Mario Balotelli. Marseille need to get back in winning ways and get back in the form that had seen them win four straight home league games without scoring.

Nimes are tenth in the league and only seven points off the Europa League place with seven games remaining. They have improved their faint chances with two successive wins but both were at home. Before those victories, they had earned just one point from four games. Their away form is the problem with five defeats in their last six league games with the other being a win at Nantes who are 15th in the league. Nimes have lost eight away league games this season and only two sides have conceded more goals. Marseile can get an important win in this game.
