On the back of three straight winless outings, things don’t look so promising for Manchester United ahead of their home game against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. These two sides are firmly in the top four race, and United go into the game placed fifth with 47 points while Spurs are seventh with 45 points. Manchester United had a really poor showing against Manchester City, a game they deservedly lost 4-1, adding to a list of inconsistent results by the team. United have no win in their last three matches and the loss to City knocked them off the top four. They’ve dropped 14 points in the last 10 league matches and that isn’t good enough for a side seeking a top four finish. United have also lost their solidity at home, and go into this game having scored more than a goal in just one of their last seven home games – against a 10-man Brighton.

Spurs have suffered two straight losses to United but they will like one thing about this fixture; that the team playing at home has one win only in seven previous meetings between the two. Spurs have won twice in those seven matches, and heading into this game they will feel they can add to it, especially after their 5-0 win over Everton in the last game. In their last two league matches, Spurs have scored nine goals and their recent win over Manchester City will be a further boost to their confidence. Harry Kane is back in form, and has scored five in the last four league matches, which is a boost to Spurs. Facing a defensively limping United already missing Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw further boosts Spurs. They have three wins in the last four league matches and scored 12 goals in that period.
