Manchester United vs Southampton Prediction & Betting Tips - Premier League

Manchester United have no wins in their last two league games and badly need to win this one. They are second after Saturday's games and host 11th placed Southampton. United had been top of the Premier League but are now three points behind new leaders Manchester City. That's virtually four because of City's superior goal difference. The last two games have seen the Reds lose at home to Sheffield United and then only draw at Arsenal. Now they have two home games this week against Southampton and Everton and need to get back into winning ways. They had won four and draw one of their last five home league games before the shock loss to the Blades. United will hope that they aren't going to slip back into the poor home form that hindered them earlier in the season. United last lost to Southampton in 2016, that was a home defeat but the ten meetings that have followed have seen United undefeated. The most recent game being the reverse fixture this season, when United came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at St Mary's.

Southampton had been hoping to qualify for European football next season. They are still in the FA Cup but league form has dipped of late. Saturday evening saw them lose 1-0 at Aston Villa. That followed a midweek home loss to Arsenal. They come to Old Trafford with one win in their last seven league games (the 1-0 home win over Liverpool) and the last three have been lost. Not being able to build on that win over Liverpool has really hurt their hopes of a high league finish. Only two goals have been scored in their last six league games, despite the return of Danny Ings. Away form has seen them win one of their last five Premier League games. No goals have been scored in the last two on the road. This is an important game for both sides, go for United to get a valuable home victory.
