Manchester United have slumped a bit in the Premier League and will hope to rise again when they play host to Newcastle United this weekend. The two sides head to this game on opposite ends of the league table, United in second place on 46 points and Newcastle in 17th place with 25 points. While it hasn’t been all good for United in their recent matches, the team hasn’t lost in the last six matches, winning three. They have one loss in 12 matches and go to this game after a 4-0 win over Real Sociedad in the Europa League. Bruno Fernandes who has been in good form for United this season scored twice in that game to make it five goals in the last five matches. They will hope to carry this form to the premier League, where they have just one win in the last five matches and have gained only six points from a possible 15. United have a better run at home in the last few matches. They’ve lost once in their last eight league matches at home and have scored two or more in four of the last six league games at Old Trafford. They are the league’s top scorers with 50 goals so far and carry two straight wins over Newcastle.

Newcastle United are just six points above the relegation region and have had a poor run lately. In four of their last five matches, they’ve conceded twice, and have just two wins, and 11 losses in the last 15 matches. Away matches have not been very promising in hunting for points. It is going to get any easier for Newcastle, with matches against struggling sides Wolves and West Bromwich Albion in the horizon.
