The matches are starting to pile up now for Manchester United, and in their first of two league games this matchweek, they will welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford for a Saturday evening kick-off in the English Premier League. Eric ten Hag’s men booked their place in the final of the EFL Cup Final after beating Nottingham Forest 5-0 on aggregate, setting up a showdown against Newcastle for their first piece of silverware since the 2017/18 season under Jose Mourinho. The Red Devils are in fourth place in the league, with 39 points in 20 matches, six behind their Manchester rivals in second and three clear of Spurs with a game in hand. Manchester United was on a six-match unbeaten run before losing their last league match 3-2 to Arsenal, which may have dampened their hopes of a title run this season. Palace is 12th in the league standings with 24 points in 20 matches, five behind Chelsea in tenth and seven clear of the drop zone. Their away record this term could use improving, recording just two wins in nine matches, along with three draws and four losses. The visitors have not taken any points in their last two visits to Old Trafford and will likely find it difficult in this one as well.
