The 1967-68 season ended with Manchester United beating Benfica to win the European Cup. 50 years later the two sides meet again but Benfica are in no position to be challenging for European honours. United have won all three of their games so far and two of those victories have been achieved away from home. They beat Benfica 1-0 in the reverse fixture, not an impressive performance though and it'd have been a draw but for a terrible mistake by Benfica's young goalie. United had a good win over Tottenham at the weekend and haven't lost a home game since September 2016. They are unbeaten in their last ten home Champions League games with eight wins so this is going to be a tough night for Benfica. The Portuguese side lie bottom of the group after three straight defeats and two of those came at home. Just one goal scored and eight conceded and even third place and a transfer to the Europa League looks unlikely with them three points behind CSKA Moscow and having to play them away from home in their next game. Benfica have lost five of their last six games in this competition and away from home they have just one win in their last six. United can get the win here and back them on a -1  handicap.
