Manchester City are second in the Premier League but six points behind leaders Liverpool who they play next week. Three more points look on their way as they host 18th placed Southampton, just four days after beating them in the EFL Cup. City have won four league and cup games in a row since the surprise 2-0 home loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers. 13 goals have been scored in those games with only two conceded. They are again likely to rotate their squad (which will annoy the fantasy football fans) but that's what they did in midweek when beating Southampton 3-1 at home in the EFL Cup.

Southampton come into this game in the relegation zone. Not just that, they have conceded 12 goals in their last two matches. Fate can be cruel when you lose 9-0 at home to Leicester City and then have two visits to the Etihad in five days. Southampton's only two league wins this season have both come away from home. They won at Brighton and Hove Albion and Sheffield United but won't be at all confident of getting a win here. Their main aim must to be to put up a fight and not concede yet more goals. The suggested bet here is for Manchester City to win in a game that has over 2.5 goals scored in it.
