Manchester City vs Shakhtar Donetsk Prediction & Betting Tips - Champions League

Manchester City lost their opening game in this group but have won the next two. A win at home to Shakhtar Donetsk will further strengthen their chances of not just qualifying for the knock-out stages but winning the group. The loss to Lyon is the only league and cup (excluding the International Champions Cup) defeat for City since April.  They top the Premier League and demolished Southampton 6-1 on Sunday to record their fifth straight win and ninth in the last ten games.  Home form in the Champions League isn't so impressive with three straight defeats, though one was with a weakened side being fielded. Before that though they had gone 13 home games in the Champions League without defeat and they have scored 27 goals in their last eight home league and cup matches.

Shakhtar Donetsk are bottom of the group with two points from three games but will draw level with City if they can win this match. So far in this group they have drawn at home with Hoffenheim after trailing with nine minutes remaining and drew 2-2 at Lyon after taking a two-goal lead. Then they lost 3-0 at home to Manchester City and it could be a similar result in this game. Shakhtar have only won one of their last nine away games in the Champions League and their best hope in this group looks to be securing third place. Go for Manchester City to get the win and be ahead at both half and full time.
