Manchester City aim to continue their fine end to the campaign with a home win over Newcastle when they host the Magpies in the Premier League on Wednesday. Second in the table, eight points clear of third-placed Leicester with a game in hand against Southampton to be played late on Sunday, City look destined to finish as best runner-up. Newcastle, 12th in the table, are 15 points clear of the relegation zone and, assuming a club that has already qualified for Europe wins the FA Cup, could be only five points away from the final Europa League place. However, the likelihood of getting points against City seems slim. While Pep Guardiola's team have been subpar this season, they reminded everyone of their quality by destroying Liverpool 4-0 last week. The imperious Kevin De Bruyne is one of the best players in the world and he's been in tremendous form since the restart, scoring four goals in five matches. The Belgian thrives at the Etihad and he has scored three goals in his last four appearances there. For Newcastle, he's the obvious danger man. But knowing who to stop and how to stop him are two very different things. 

Newcastle took a point off City in the first half of the campaign when they drew 2-2 at St. James's Park. It followed an impressive victory at the tailend of last season but City demonstrated their superiority when the clubs met in the FA Cup last week. A comfortable 2-0 victory ended that bogey run. Newcastle have been impressive in recent away outings, winning their last two matches on the road. But beating City at the Etihad is a tough ask and only two teams have managed it in the league this season. City have won 12 of their 16 matches at the Etihad and they have been winning at both half-time and full-time in their last four there. Odds on a victory are understandably low, so we suggest backing the brilliant De Bruyne to add an anytime goal to his streak.
