Manchester United have been undergoing a lot of criticism lately and having controversial figure in manager Jose Mourinho has not helped matters at all but the Red Devils have been able to do their business, sometimes scrappily but still managing to get the most important thing out of their matches. United have trailed in four of their last five matches, but they have won two of those and drawn one. Coming from a win over Juventus after trailing early on, United are expected to have the morale and confidence and the win in Turin has been termed the team’s turning point. With three wins in a row, United will have just the right confidence going to this game, but here they are meeting a more confident side, one that has picked six straight wins, is unbeaten in the last 11 matches and has not lost in domestic action this season. In the 11 unbeaten matches, Manchester City have managed nine clean sheets and they have scored 18 goals in the last five matches, conceding once while in the last 11 matches they have failed to score just once, and have conceded two goals, these coming in just two matches. City have trailed in three matches in the season but they have managed to win one and lost one, drawing the other; two of these matches were in the Champions League. Also, City have only conceded twice in a game on one occasion – in the Champions League, thus their dominance in domestic action is unrivalled and they post the best attack in the league, and the best defence. They have scored 33 and conceded four while their rivals for the day have scored 19 goals but conceded 18, making them the side with the leakiest defence among the top 14 teams going into the weekend. For all their dominance though, City have managed just one win over United in the last five meetings. The last two meetings between the two sides ended in over 2.5 goals while Manchester United have bagged three clean sheets against City in the last five meetings. This will be the 154th meeting between the two Manchester rivals; United have the edge with 61 wins as compared to City’s 45 wins.
