Manchester City will wrap up a successful season with a home game against Everton on Sunday. City were declared champions a while back and Everton need nothing but a win here. Perched at the top with 83 points, City will not be affected by any outcome here but Everton, on 59 points in eighth place, need a win to actualize their European dreams. Manchester City suffered their second loss in three matches when they took on Brighton in the last match, letting go of a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 and Joao Cancelo was sent off in the game. Pep Guardiola’s side is clearly thinking of the Champions League final and we don’t expect them to give much in this game. They’ve been erratic in the recent league matches, conceding two or more in the last three and keeping just one clean sheet in the last five. Even with the focus on the Champions League, Guardiola will want more from his charges in their final league game at home. If he will get that remains to be seen, with the team having lost three of the last four home league matches and has no clean sheet in the last six league games at home.

This game is well poised for Everton. They are coming from a home win, and have a good away record, then here they face a side with nothing to lose and has been a bit off color in recent matches. Everton need a win in this game and they are going to push for it as they seek a place in the congested chase for European football. The 1-0 home win over Wolves in the last game wasn’t expected, and the Toffees had to dig deep for it, to end a run of two winless outings at this crucial stage of the season. A run of just three wins in the last 11 league matches has put a dent on Everton’s targets for the season. The team at some point regarded a Champions League contender, has to lower ambitions to the Europa League and Conference League. They have a wealth of experience in the team, and especially in attack but in the last 13 league matches, they’ve scored more than one in just one game. Away from home, however, they are unbeaten in the last four league games, all with clean sheets and have just one loss in 14. They have seven straight losses against Manchester City but here they will have a bigger urge to change that.
