Another jam-packed midweek Premier League schedule is on the cards, and we head to the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday evening, where Manchester City will be playing host to Brighton & Hove Albion. The Citizens are second in the league standings, while the Seagulls are 10th after 20 games. Check out our match prediction below!
The Sky Blues saw the gap to table-topping Arsenal widen to six points over the weekend when they were held to a draw by managerless Chelsea, while Aston Villa pulled firmly into their rearview mirror, now level with them on 42 points. Three points feel imperative for Pep Guardiola’s team here, but they’ve not fared well against the plucky Seagulls in recent times.
Indeed, Fabian Hurzeler’s team defeated City on the south coast in the reverse fixture back in August and are unbeaten in their last three league encounters dating back to April 2024. A victory for the visitors could take them into European qualification territory, but can they find another positive result against the eight-time Prem champions? Let’s get into the key stats!

Manchester City - Brighton: Form Analysis
Manchester City’s title hopes were dealt a significant blow on Sunday evening when they conceded in the 94th minute to a managerless Chelsea and were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw.
The result ended the Citizens' eight-match home win streak in the Premier League, but they are still unbeaten in their last 10 matches across all competitions (W8 D2), dating back to November 25.
After a goalless trip to the Stadium of Light, it is also the first time this season that the Sky Blues have drawn back-to-back league matches. However, they have not gone three league games without a win since December 2024.
Both teams scored in four of the last five games between Man City & Brighton!
Meanwhile, Brighton & Hove Albion secured a crucial 2-0 victory at the Amex on Saturday against relegation candidates Burnley to keep themselves within three points of European qualification.
That result brought an end to the Seagulls' six-match winless run in the top flight (D3 L3) and was the first time they won a match on the south coast since beating Brentford back in November.
However, the visitors now need to find the same level of performance on the road, where they are winless in their last three (D1 L2) and have only earned nine points from 10 outings this season.

Manchester City & Brighton Squad Analysis
Man City were dealt a couple of major blows over the weekend, with defensive duo Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias both forced off in the second half and likely to miss this week’s clash against Brighton.
“Have you seen the bench today? We don’t have players!”
Those were the words of Guardiola following the match, in which he alluded to having to call up four players from the academy given the team’s absences. Mateo Kovacic, John Stones, Oscar Bobb, Nico Gonzalez and Savinho are out injured, while Omar Marmoush and Rayan Ait-Nouri are at AFCON.
Erling Haaland had another frustrating outing and has now gone three games without finding the net. However, the Norwegian has scored in each of his last four starts against Brighton we fancy him to end his mini-drought in midweek.
Brighton are also missing several key players at present through injury, including Adam Webster, Solly March, Yankuba Minteh, Mats Wieffer and long-term absentee Stefanos Tzimas.
Carlos Baleba’s absence is set to be extended after producing a Player of the Match performance against South Africa to help guide Cameroon into the quarter-final of the 2025 AFCON on Sunday.
Charalampos Kostoulas made his first league start of the season at the weekend and picked up an assist, but he will likely make way for Danny Welbeck to return to lead the line for this match.

Our Manchester City vs Brighton Prediction
Manchester City have been excellent at home this season, but there are now major concerns surrounding their defence, with central pairing Gvardiol and Dias likely ruled out for at least a few weeks.
While the Citizens still have enough firepower up front to win this match, Brighton will fancy their chances of nicking a goal or two here, given that Nathan Ake and Abdukodir Khusanov - neither of whom has played regularly this season - may start at the back for the hosts. Therefore, our Manchester City vs Brighton prediction is BTTS.
Manchester City vs Brighton - Other Interesting Predictions
Erling Haaland to score anytime
Such is the attacking prowess of Erling Haaland that three games without a goal is something of a drought for him. However, the Norwegian fancies playing against this opponent, having scored in his last four starts against them, and we feel he will get back on the scoresheet in this one.
