By the time this game begins, Manchester City could be 11 points behind the league leaders and at least eight. They begin this latest set of Premier League fixtures in 14th place, ten behind their opponents Arsenal. After a 3-1 win at Wolves, they lost 5-2 at home to Leicester City. That was followed by them failing to hold onto a lead at Elland Road and draw 1-1. Four points from three games isn’t the kind of start City are used to making. Each of the last three seasons has seen them earn ten points from their first four games, the season before that it was 12. City are still without Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus but will have new signing Ruben Dias making his home debut. Four of City’s five league and cup games this season have seen both teams score. Before that, their two Champions League matches played both saw both sides get on the scoresheet. This is a fixture that regularly sees goals, usually from City. They have scored at least twice against Arsenal in their last five home league games against them.

Arsenal have made a steady start to the season winning the Community Shield (one of the last winners perhaps?) and reaching the last eight of the EFL Cup (same again). Both competitions have seen them beat Liverpool on penalties. When the two clubs met in the Premier League it was a different story. The Reds beat them 3-1 again raising alarms about playing top sides away from home. That’s their only league loss of the season with the other three games all being won. Victories have come against Fulham, West Ham and Sheffield United. Will this be another season when they pile up the points against the lesser teams and lose to the top ones. We could a lot about Arsenal in this game. Only three of their last 13 away league matches have ended in a win for the Gunners. If they want a top four finish, that has to improve this season. More clean sheets are needed two with seven of their last nine away league fixtures seeing both teams score. Go for both teams to score in this match.
