The quarter-finals of the Coupe de France will get underway this week, with Lyon playing host to Strasbourg on Tuesday evening. The hosts are currently in tenth place in Ligue 1, while the visitors are two places below them. Lyon booked their place in the last eight of this competition with a 2-1 win over Lille at the start of the month. Since then, they have been flawless and are now riding a five-match winning streak in all competitions. The Gones’ last match ended in a 2-1 win against Metz and was an excellent display of the fighting spirit of this side at the moment as they managed to come back from a goal down to clinch the three points. This match will mark the sixth consecutive season that Lyon have reached the quarter-final of this competition. During that time, they have got to the next round on three occasions, includng last season, though they have not won the trophy since 2011-12. Still, with good form and playing at home, the hosts are the favourites, according to the bookmakers. 

Meanwhile, in almost complete contrast, Strasbourg come into this one in very poor form. They were beaten by Brest 3-0 over the weekend, extending their current losing streak in Ligue 1 to four matches in a row while they are winless in six. The only positive during that time was the 3-1 victory they secured against Le Havre in this competition in the last round. This marks the first time that the Blue-and-Whites have reached the last eight of this competition since the 2017-18 season, when they were beaten by Chambly Oise, while they have not won this competition since 2000-01. However, despite their current dip in form, Strasbourg will gain some confidence from the fact that they beat this opponent in the league earlier in the season and have only lost to them once in their last four meetings.
